About
What this site is
Section titled “What this site is”Sheet Error is an independent tutorial library for Google Sheets formulas and error values. Each page takes one error — #N/A, #REF!,#DIV/0!, #NAME?, #VALUE!, #NUM! — or one formula that failed in a specific way, and explains what the cell is actually telling you.
The public site is sheeterror.com. This is a reference library, not a personal blog and not a news feed. Pages stay up as long as the error still exists in Sheets.
The home page is a short starter set of common cases, not every page in the library. The grouped index is Tutorials. The sidebar lists every published tutorial. Each tutorial page shows an Updated date when it changes. If a recreate no longer matches Sheets, send the page URL through Contact.
Who it is for
Section titled “Who it is for”The site is for people who have a spreadsheet open and a cell that will not calculate. You match the error value or the function name, open that tutorial, and work through it on a blank sheet. You do not need Apps Script, and you do not need to read a general “spreadsheet tips” article first.
If you already know the function and only need the mismatch — number versus text in a VLOOKUP, Col1 versus A in QUERY on IMPORTRANGE, a locale that wants backslash instead of comma in an array literal — the page for that case is written around that mismatch, not around a tour of the function.
How a tutorial is written
Section titled “How a tutorial is written”Every tutorial follows the same shape. First you recreate the error on a blank spreadsheet. The cells, headers, and formulas are written out so you can type them. The recreate is small on purpose: a few rows, one broken formula, and a control row when that helps.
Next, the page names what is actually wrong in that recreate — and what it is not. A lookup miss is not a deleted reference. A locale parse error is not an unknown function. Wrapping with IFERROR before you have confirmed the miss hides the real problem as easily as it hides a valid empty result.
Then you get a formula you can type. The original broken cells stay on the sheet so you can see the error and the fix at the same time. Screenshots are the English Google Sheets UI: formula bar, error tooltip, and the cells from the recreate. Captions describe those same cells, so the page still works if an image does not load.
Independence
Section titled “Independence”The site is run independently under the Sheet Error brand. It is not affiliated with Google, is not a Google product, and is not the official Google Sheets help center. Function names, error values, and menu labels are used because that is what appears in the product; they are not an endorsement.
What this site does not do
Section titled “What this site does not do”There are no stock picks, no investment advice, and no market commentary. Spreadsheet examples use dummy data such as sku and qty.
There are no “under construction” stubs. If a page is linked from the home page or the sidebar, the tutorial is written. This About page is not a placeholder biography; there is no founder story here because this is a reference library.
